Hi! You haven’t met me yet,
because I am out there waiting to come in to the AZGRC family.
I’m the dog on the euthanasia list at the shelter because they
need the room, or the older dog who is being turned in because
my family doesn’t want to care for me anymore or the young dog
who is being kept outside because the family doesn’t have time
for me. What we all have in common is that we need to find our
“forever home” and we hope AZGRC can help. You see, this is
what people in animal rescue call “dog dumping” season. People
who don’t or can’t care for their dogs any longer “dump” them at
the shelter or contact AZGRC to take them in.
There are a lot of wonderful
Goldens out there who need your help. Most importantly, we need
a place to stay until we find our forever family. AZGRC is
totally foster-based which means a dog cannot come in to the
system unless there is someone willing to foster the dog. So,
if there is a dog in the shelter we need someone who is willing
to take the dog, sight unseen, on fairly short notice. Or, it
may be an owner turn-in where we have a little more time. But,
because of the large number of dogs that need our help, AZGRC
desperately needs people willing to foster this summer.
Fostering can be a great
opportunity to meet a dog that may be the “perfect dog” for your
family. Or, it may be a way, on a short-term basis to help a
dog find their new home. If you are looking to adopt a dog,
fostering gives you the “first right of refusal” for adopting
the dog. Please consider fostering one of us, or perhaps you
could cover for a foster who is going on vacation. If you are
available to foster, (or know someone else who might) or would
like to learn more about it, please e-mail us at
info@azgrc.org or you can fill out an
application to become a
foster.
Thank you and I hope my picture
will be in Happy Tails soon.

Hi! My name is Cotton and I am a high energy 2 year old. I
love to play and am very affectionate. I haven’t been around a
lot of dogs, but I think I might like to have a playmate to keep
me company. (I’m not sure about cats yet) You’ll need to work
with me on some training. I’m pretty good with sit and down,
but not so good with stay. I’ll walk nicely on the leash, but
if you leave plastic toys laying around, I’ll probably chew
them. Kids are great, but I like older kids better. I can get
pretty excited and might knock the little ones over. I’ll let
you know more once I get settled but I’d like to meet you if you
think I might be a good fit for your family.
