FRODO

chunky monkey to skinny love bug

Rescued         August 2010

Adopted         December 2010

Frodo started his life being a part of a family but when they no longer had time for him, Frodo was banished to the backyard. He came to Arizona Golden Retriever Connection more than 40lbs overweight with severe ear infections and skin infections.  His owners had cut the mats off of him and cut his skin in several places.  Frodo’s thyroid was low and he needed lots of dental work. He had developed separation anxiety that manifested itself by Frodo licking. He licked at his paws and legs causing sores. He licked his fosters. He licked the furniture.

Frodo went to one of AZGRC’s experienced fosters that often get foster dogs that need to lose weight. Frodo started on a diet and daily walking plus all his other medical needs were addressed.  He fit right in with Kelso, Ruby and Jesse, all Golden Retrievers that have welcomed many foster dogs into their home. Frodo learned about the toy basket, doggy door and how much fun walks were from his canine pals.

He was alone for so long at his previous home that he just wanted love and constant attention. He loved everyone; kids, other dogs, anyone that would pay attention to him. Frodo was basically a love bug.

Frodo fit in so well at his foster family that it was soon apparent that he had found his forever family.

Today Frodo is a happy, healthy, lean newspaper fetching Golden Retriever
