On Saturday,
August 13, 2011 the Arizona Diamondbacks hosted
their first ever "Bark in the Park" event allowing
their 4-legged fans to join with their pet parents
to cheer on the DBacks as they played the New York
Mets.
A portion of each
ticket's cost was donated to the Arizona Humane
Society. Although not an "official" AZGRC event,
several members and their dogs attended including
Judy Lewis and Blondie, Christine Orantes and Polly,
Laurie Rogers and Kayli, Cathy and Jim McIntyre and
CJ and Simon, and "honorary golden for a day" Ollie
and his mom, Cathy Anderson. In addition to the
game, their was a pre-game "Puppy Parade" out on the
warning track.
Over 200 people
and their dogs attended and all had a truly howling
good time! Representatives from the
Diamondbacks have said that plans are in the works
to have the event again at least once next year. |
