Mom
adds a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) to
our food every day. She even adds a teaspoon to
our water bowl once a day as well. Yes, vinegar
has a potent smell but that “liquid gold” packs
a punch when it comes to all the benefits it
holds. ACV is full of vitamins, minerals and
essential acids. It is good for arthritis,
allergies and helps keep the pH levels in the
body balanced which can help keep yeast growth
under control. ACV is a natural anti-bacterial
and anti-fungal and can help boost the immune
system. Because of its large dose of pectin,
ACV can also help promote a healthy heart.
WOW! That covers a lot!
So,
what are some tips for using this magical juice?
When
purchasing ACV, organic is best. Look for
vinegar that is “close to the mother” – meaning
it is golden/brown in color and has sediment in
the bottle. This means it isn’t over
processed. Just be sure to mix thoroughly
before each use. Trader Joe’s carries a very
nice organic ACV that fits this description but
check your favorite grocery store, they may have
organic.
NOTE: Be
sure you don’t purchase white vinegar by mistake
– it’s NOT the same

Tips
for use:
-
Mix 50/50 solution and use as an ear
cleanser. The acidic level will kill yeast
and isn’t as harsh as those expensive
cleaners that contain chemicals & alcohol.
-
Cleanse “hot spots” – it will help kill
bacteria & fungus on the skin and keep
parasites away.
-
Add 1 teaspoon to the water bowl once a
day. It can help clear up “tear stains” in
dogs that experience this problem (like
those little white fluffy dogs) by working
from the inside out.
-
Add 1 teaspoon to food once a day to help
with arthritis, allergies and to aid in
controlling the growth of yeast in the gut.
-
Use
as a rinse after a bath to clear any shampoo
residue. It will help control fleas too.
As
you can see, ACV has many healthy benefits – and
it’s cheap! So, ask your mom or dad to add it
to their next grocery list. They can add it to
their diet too!
