Baby,
it’s getting hot out there! Here’s a healthy,
cool treat we love and it’s easy for Mom or Dad
to make. My Mom buys organic or natural
ingredients at Trader Joe’s. She says organic
is the best because there are no artificial
additives, chemicals or yucky stuff used in the
growing or manufacturing of the ingredients.
It’s best to avoid added sugar and salt too – we
just don’t need it. Check your local grocery
for healthy choices.
Basic Recipe:
-
Organic non-fat plain yogurt
-
No added fruit and NO artificial sweeteners
– the sweeteners are deadly to us!
-
Organic creamy, unsalted peanut butter – no
added sugar
-
Natural, unsweetened applesauce
Mix
equal parts of the ingredients and blend well.
Place spoonfuls in small 2 oz. cups and freeze.
Once frozen, just pop them out of the cups and
give to your dogs! You can freeze in ice cube
trays to avoid added trash – a simple way for
you and your dog to go “green”.
Variations:
Some
dogs don’t like peanut butter – I can’t imagine
– but here are a few simple variations. Be
creative!
-
Substitute smashed banana for the peanut
butter
-
You can even add a little banana to the
basic recipe
-
Add a little unsweetened coconut to the
basic recipe
-
It’s full of fiber, vitamins & minerals
-
Add blueberries or chopped peaches
Bone-Appétit!
