NATIONAL DENTAL HEALTH MONTH
FOR DOGS AND CATS

Marley
here. Did you know that February is National Dental
Health Month for dogs and cats? Many veterinary clinics
run specials just to celebrate this month and encourage
animal guardians to have their “kids” teeth cleaned. So
now is the perfect time to save some money and get our
teeth cleaned. Oral hygiene is extremely important in
animals of all ages. Tarter build up can lead to heart
and kidney disease from the bacteria build-up. Gum
disease can lead to bad breath and gum or teeth erosion
which is more expensive to treat then if you just did
routine annual cleanings. My foster brother, Snoopy was
having difficulty chewing his food recently. Mom took
him in for his routine cleaning and he had a hole in one
of his teeth. Ouch!! Now that tooth is gone, his breath
is better and he is chewing with no problems. Even if
your parents brush your teeth daily, we still need to
have an annual check-up and possible cleaning. Plus if
you ever need to show your teeth as a warning, you want
them to be pearly white. Not that I am advocating
showing your teeth but the situation may arise.
So tell your parents to make an
appointment to get your teeth checked this month.
