goldens in foster care
but not available for adoption

Many of the Goldens rescued by AZGRC are not immediately put on the website as available for adoption.  When Goldens arrive, the first visit is to the vet. Unfortunately, many of our dogs come in with serious medical issues which require treatment.  During this time, the dogs are not available for adoption and will be considered on Medical Hold until the issue has been resolved.

A healthy dog is placed in a foster home for evaluation before being posted as available. Our fosters play an important role in evaluating the dog’s temperament and helping us determine what type of situation would be the best fit for both the dog and the family.  During this evaluation period, it is not unusual for the foster family to fall in love with the dog and consider adopting.  We always allow our fosters the first opportunity to a adopt a dog under their care.

If you would be interested in fostering, please contact us at fosters@azgrc.org or call 602.870.0037.
